4-Year-Old Marriage Crashes Over Long Distance Relationship

The marriage between Hussainat Mohammed and Ismaila Agboola has been dissolved at Gudu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday over long distance relationship and lack of love.

According to Hussainat who petitioned for divorce in September 2016, Agboola visits her twice or thrice in a year.

Failed marriage over long distance

She said that she got married to the respondent in November 2013, under Islamic rites and that they had lived apart since the consummation of the marriage.

Hussainat and Agboola have a two-year-old daughter which she takes care of without any assistant from her husband.

The petitioner who has been married for only four years, said her husband lives in Lagos.

Agboola on the other hand did not challenge or object the divorce petition.

The judge, Mr Abdul Bello, who dissolved the marriage ordered Hussainat to obtain a divorce certificate from the court’s registry.

Hussainat was also ordered not to contract another marriage till three mentrual cycles.
