New Fifa president Gianni Infantino is keen to put a stop to comparisons between himself and predecessor Sepp Blatter.
Infantino was elected in Zurich on Friday and replaces Blatter, whose hometown lies just six miles from that of his compatriot.
Blatter saw his reign come to an end amid allegations of corruption at world football’s governing body and is now serving a reduced six-year ban from the sport.
The Swiss’ punishment arose over payment of two million Swiss francs (£1.3million) made to Uefa boss Michel Platini in 2011 that infringed upon Fifa Code of Ethics.
And Infantino is keen to shift the spotlight away from the common ground he shares with Blatter, telling SonntagsBlick: “Infantino is Infantino, Blatter is Blatter.”
“Sepp Blatter marked an era in Fifa. I hope that I will characterise a new era in Fifa.
“I’m my own man. Otherwise I would not have won such a vote. But I am still on good terms with Platini.”
Discussing life since the result, Infantino commented: “I have practically not slept, only a few minutes maybe. Everything is somewhere between a dream and reality.
“I have probably not yet fully realised what has happened. We celebrated with the family a little, drank a glass of red wine. I am very emotional but full of energy and drive.
“[I was] not confident of victory. I was very calm, surprisingly quiet. Normally I stress more. I had the feeling I had done everything possible in the election campaign and I wanted to enjoy the day.
“The emotions overwhelmed me almost. My wife hugged me – it was an incredible moment.
“Also, my 81-year-old mother was able to witness it all. It is a gift and it touched me deeply.

An Indian man allegedly killed 14 family members, including eight children, with a knife before taking his own life Sunday, a police spokesman said.
Husnain Anwar Warekar, 35, put sedatives in his relatives’ food before slashing their throats with a knife, according to Gajanan Kabdule, a police spokesman in the western Indian city of Thane.
The victims included Warekar’s 28-year-old wife and two daughters who are between ages three months and 6.
He also killed his 65-year-old father and 55-year-old mother; three of his sisters between ages 28 and 34; and six of the sisters’ children.
One woman survived the attack and called for help, but by the time police arrived, Warekar had hanged himself, police said.
The incident happened in Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai, India’s financial capital. The family had gathered for an event at Warekar’s home Saturday, and were staying overnight.
Kabdule said the motive for the killings is unknown, but an investigation is underway.

Student hospitalized after leaving on a tampon for 9 days – suffers toxic shock.
She narrates her story below…
“I was feeling really ill by that stage. I was hot and dizzy and felt really strange. “I was bleeding more and my mum suggested I feel about and see if there was anything there.”
She said she checked her vagina then discovered the tampon was still inside her. She said when she pulled it out it was “pure black” and “obviously coated in bacteria”. Which made her rush to the hospital.
After being admitted to intensive care, Doctors said she was suffering from sepsis (blood poisoning) as a result of Toxic Shock Syndrome – an infection caused by bacteria forming on the tampon. The condition is believed to be caused when certain types of bacteria – which are normally found on the skin – get into the body through a wound, burn or through the vagina or throat, according to online search. And if it’s not treated in time, can lead to limb amputations and even prove fatal.
The third-year criminology student said she had inserted the tampon during her period last month but due to stress had forgotten to remove it and insert another one
Doctors managed to save her life using antibiotics but Ms Pankhurst is still unable to walk long distances.
She said her boyfriend has been very supportive, he feeds her and carries her to places whenever she is very weak to walk.
Ms Pankhurst said girls her age are “not aware of the dangers of using tampons”.
She added:
“It is so important to keep an eye on your health, especially during stressful life experiences.
“I hope my story can help others like myself to take care of your health and not take your life for granted because you never know what might be around the corner.”

A Nigerian pilot named Ademilola Odujinrin is set to make history as the first African to fly around the world alone. This historical journey will happen in April according to Demilola who said he’s put everything in place to ensure a hitch-free journey. He said his solo expedition will begin in Lagos and take him round the 7 continents of the world. It will take 6 weeks to complete and he will end his journey in Lagos sometime in May.
“The project aims to inspire Nigeria’s teeming population to begin to conceive a world without borders with unbridled dreams to transform the Nigerian narrative while shattering all stereotypes. The planned solo expedition will be achieved flying the aircraft, Cirrus SR22. It has a total payload of about 439kg. This particular aircraft with registration number N313CD has been specifically modified for this journey with additional long-range tanks and a HF radio installed for longer stretches of the journey,’’ he said.
Demilola said he’s currently undergoing physical and psychological training to prepare him for the challenges of operating a flight without any assistance for six weeks. The operation will cost about a million dollars according to Transcend project, who are supporting the project.
