A former Governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, is currently in the dock before a Federal High Court in Lagos answering alleged corruption charges.
Kalu and others had been initially arraigned in 2007 before Justice Adamu Bello of the Federal High Court, Abuja (now retired).
They were arraigned in an amended 34-count charge over an alleged diversion of about N3.2bn from the Abia State Government’s treasury during Kalu’s tenure as governor.

Oh what a wicked world, A shocking story of alleged medical malpractice is coming out of a hospital in the southern Thai town of Pattalung.
Last Wednesday, October 26th, a 17 year old girl named only as Poo – went in to have a baby at the hospital that was not named. The duty doctor pulled the baby out but its head broke off.
The relatives waited nervously outside the delivery room for a long time. Eventually they were told to take the expectant mother to another hospital. No explanation was given by the duty doctor.
The family took her to another hospital where a suction machine was used. The doctor there discovered that only the head of the baby was in the mothers womb. The body was missing.
Shocked relatives went back to the original hospital to find out what happened. Later it emerged that the duty doctor at the original hospital had pulled the baby out but had decapitated it in the process but said nothing to the relatives.
Daily News further discovered that following the delivery, a public health official had offered the family 400,000 baht in compensation.
The elder sister of the mother posted pictures of the head of the baby on Facebook along with a message saying that they were absolutely shocked, adding that there is no way would they accept compensation without the hospital and doctor accepting responsibility.
The sister said that people went online to say that she was a liar and threats were made to her. She told daily News: “Who in hell would lie about such a thing?”
Relatives of the mother, who is currently recovering from the ordeal in the second hospital, that also was not named, have gone to the government’s Damrongtham watchdog group to seek justice.
Meanwhile the local health chief Dr Thanit Sermkaek ordered an investigation into the matter as the hospital said such a thing had never happened before.
Daily News further reported that the doctor who allegedly decapitated the baby had gone on leave.
Relatives said that the baby had been described as normal before the mother went into labour. The torso has been retrieved and the baby sewn back together. Relatives have refused to to take the body for cremation until the matter is sorted out to everyone’s satisfaction.

Pandemonium erupted on Saturday at Berger bus stop, Lagos State, after a policeman, who was a passenger on a 14-seater bus end route from Ibadan, Oyo State, reportedly stabbed a motor park tout, popularly called agbero, to death.
The deceased was identified simply as Ahmed and was reportedly planning to marry in December.
The policeman was said to be serving in a command outside Lagos.
Our correspondent learnt that one of Ahmed’s friends had stopped the bus with the inscription, Success Express, and demanded N100 from the driver, who reportedly declined to pay the money.
In the ensuing argument between the driver and the agbero, the policeman, who was at the front seat, reportedly got off from the bus.
Our correspondent gathered that Ahmed had gone to the scene to know what transpired.
“But the policeman suddenly brought out a very sharp knife and stabbed him (Ahmed) in the stomach. He held the policeman for a while and slumped. He stood up, staggered and slumped again.
“The policeman put on trousers usually worn by riot policemen,” an eyewitness, Goke Adeleke, said.
Ahmed was said to have been taken in the bus to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at the Ojota Tollgate, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
A friend of the deceased, who identified himself as Agberoko, said men of the Rapid Response Squad at the bus stop released tear gas canisters to rescue the killer cop.
Agberoko, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “The RRS men shot into the air and also fired tear gas canisters to disperse us when we intercepted the policeman.
“They recscue and took him into the Armoured Personnel Carrier stationed in the area.”
Our correspondent, who arrived at the scene shortly after Ahmed’s corpse was brought back to the bus stop, noted that his friends went violent, and vandalised the bus.
The angry mob also hurled stones at the RRS’ APC as the operatives drove off from the scene.
A trader, Taibat Adejare, who was in tears, said Ahmed was decent among his counterparts.
She said, “He just came out around 4pm today (Saturday). He ate a snack with a bottle of drink. It was about an hour after he came out that the incident happened.
“He was very peaceful and jovial. He didn’t force drivers to pay. The policeman stabbed him with a poisonous knife.
“I was joking with him some days ago that he should go and marry. He said he was planning marriage already and that it would come up in December.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, however, said the suspect was not a policeman, adding that the corpse had been deposited in a morgue.
He said, “A group of social miscreants allegedly engaged one Sulaiman Anafi, a driver in charge of a Mazda commercial bus with number plate, XB 251 LEM, in a brawl at the Berger bus stop, inward Lagos, over parking ticket.
“In the process, one of the passengers in the bus reportedly stabbed one of the area boys in the area with a knife and he died on the way to a nearby hospital.
“The suspect has been arrested. He is not a policeman.”

‘We all have done foolish things one time or the other in our lives… Have actually done lot of foolish things, yeah lot of stupid things indeed… Way back 2010/2011, was yet to gain admission, done with secondary education, somehow I got myself entangled in a lesbo relationship not because I was a lesbian ,out of curiosity after reading and seeing pornographic videos/images of girls making out,I just had this deep urge to have a feel of what it’s like.
