Policemen attached to the Akenfa divisional Command of the Bayelsa State Command has arrested a 40 years old man over alleged serial rape of a 9 years old girl in the Akenfa community area of Yenagoa local Government Area of the State.
The accused identified as Chinedu Eze known as “Chi Boy” was arrested at the weekend following an alarm raised by the mother of the victim after the she complained of pains.
Leadership gathered that a Bayelsa Based Girl Child Right advocacy group, Operation Rescue ( OPER) intervened and filed a complaint at the Akenfa Police Division which led to the arrest of the culprit.
The Victim, a Primary Four pupil, according to the Police, alleged that the man have had canal knowledge of her severally and always give her N100 for her silence.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Operation Rescue, Princess Egbe confirmed the arrest of the accused and said the Officer in Charge of Family Welfare at the Akenfa Police has assisted the group at conducting a medical test on the victim.
Egbe expressed concern at the rising incidence of girl child defilement in Bayelsa State “in the last four months of 2016, over 10 cases have been reported. Some others were not reported due to the non-availability of a special desk by the Nigerian Police in the State.
