A woman has been arrested for killing a baby 7 days after he was born
According to reports, a woman identified as Mma Mariama, threw the 7-day-old baby of her co-wife Mma Ajato, into a public toilet in Bole, northern region of Ghana.
The two women who are married to one Iddirisu, were said to have been fighting a lot, when around 7pm, Mariama sneaked into the room where Ajato had laid her baby to sleep while she watched a telenovela series, took the baby outside and threw him into the toilet.
When interrogated, Mariama revealed she acted out of jealousy because their husband seemed to favour Ajato more than he favoured her.
Corroborating her story, her husband’s elder brother said Mariama reported to him that she had been denied sex for a long time by her husband, something she blamed on Ajato.
The dead baby was brought out from the toilet by sanitary officers, while Mariama is yet to be charged to court.
