Sokoto releases N1.2bn for gratuities

Sokoto—Barely a week after the release of N1,245,889,678.85 to pay outstanding gratuities of retired local government officers by Sokoto State government, the Ministry of Local Government has commenced payment of the gratuities.

In its first phase of the payment exercise, outstanding gratuities of local government officers, who retired between 2010 and 2013 and that of Local Education Authority, LEA, officers that retired between 2007 and 2015, commenced on Monday.

The payment is to all staff affected in the 23 local government areas of the state.
