Jamie Vardy has been making a mockery of Premier League defenders this season on his way to topping the division’s scoring charts, with few opponents able to stop him.
The England international has found the net on 19 occasions this term and has spearheaded Leicester City’s march to the top of the English top-flight.
So when Betfair asked him to choose the toughest player he has come up against he probably would not have had a long list of names to choose from.
The former Fleetwood Town forward plumped for Manchester United’s Chris Smalling, however, who himself is enjoying an excellent season.
“On a personal level, Chris Smalling,” he said. “He’s always tight and always around you to stop you from doing your bit on the ball or getting turned.
“It makes it very difficult for you to bring your team-mates into the game as well.”
