Scientists develops male injectable contraceptive for use and set to begin testing

According to a scientific research, a lot of women all over the world have dreamed and hoped for some type of male contraception apart from condoms and vasectomy. The burden of taking contraceptive pills or having devices implanted has been what a lot of women have been doing to avoid unwanted/unplanned pregnancies.

Now, scientists have revealed that the first male contraceptive injection could soon be available.

The shot, called Vasalgel, is non-hormonal and long-acting , potentially reversible and has been shown to block sperm for up to 1 year.

According to the non-profit Parsemus Foundation, of Berkeley, California, clinical testing of the shot will begin some time this year 2016.

According to the research done, a lot of men said they were willing to try a new form of contraception that is reversible unlike vasectomy.

But in a new study, Parsemeus confirmed that Vasalgel has the potential to fill the gap in the male contraception market.

The shot consists of styrene-alt-maleic acid (SMA) that is dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide will be the first to reach the market, researchers noted.

FG nominates former NNPC boss, Barkindo for OPEC Secretary-General

The Federal Government has nominated a former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mohammed Barkindo, for the position of the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, come July 2016.

Barkindo had previously served as Acting Secretary-General of OPEC in 2006, and was GMD of the NNPC from 2009 to 2010. According to reports, yesterday, a Federal Government official and some delegates of OPEC, who confirmed the development stated that the nomination of Barkindo by the Federal Government has the potential of ending the deadlock over OPEC’s leadership.

The delegates said the nomination of Barkindo was put forward in recent days by Nigeria to replace Abdalla Salem el-Badri as OPEC’s secretary general. “We are putting Barkindo forward for the job of OPEC secretary general because he has the required qualification and experience,” the Federal Government official who shoes not to be named said.

Badri has been OPEC’s Secretary-General for over nine years and was supposed to leave at the end of 2012, but his tenure was extended due to the fact that member countries of OPEC could not reach a consensus on his replacement.

The disagreement, according to report was over whether a national from Iraq, Saudi Arabia or Iran should head the organization. It was stated that members normally decide on the position at ministerial meetings, with the next one scheduled on June 2 in Vienna. Reports said OPEC delegates had previously said Nigeria or Angola are the most likely countries to produce the cartel’s leader because they are seen as neutral in the group’s geopolitical disagreements.

According to the reports, the secretary general isn’t a decision maker at OPEC like Saudi Arabia’s oil minister Ali al-Naimi, for instance, but Badri had played a key role in brokering agreements and bridging differences between the cartel’s fractious members on production policies.

OPEC’s next challenge is implementing production limits at meeting with nonmembers such as Russia and Bahrain in Qatar on April 17. Iran, a large OPEC producer ramping up its production after the end of Western sanctions, doesn’t plan to join the output freeze. The nomination comes at a critical time for OPEC, which is grappling with divisions among its 13 member nations over how to deal with the collapse in oil prices. Some members like Venezuela want OPEC members to cut oil production to reduce supply and raise prices, while others like Saudi Arabia want to let market forces work mostly on their own.

Fuel scarcity:Blame Buhari, not Kachikwu – Bishop

The Bishop of Niger West (Anglican Communion) in Anambra State, Rt Revd. Johnson Ekwe has picked holes with Nigerians who are attacking the Minister of State, Petroleum and Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Ibe Kachichukwu over scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit in the country insisting the attack is misdirected.

Ekwe who spoke to reporters shortly after dedicating a new church building donated, Thursday, to the Anglican Church of Umuatuolu-Umueri Community of Anambra East by some illustrious sons of the community led by Senator Emma Anosike said it was wrong to ask the minister to resign over lapses in the supply of fuel.

This he said because President Buhari is the substantive minister of Petroleum from who Kachichukwu takes directives and should be held directly responsible. He also took swipes at the activities of Fulani herdsmen who while carrying sophisticated AK 47 rifles, maim, rape women, rob and destroy farm lands only to get shielded from Federal Security Agencies when the victims of their nefarious activities confront them. He cited a recent incident at Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu Satte where two women were raped and killed by the herdsmen who also destroyed their farm lands.

But when confronted by the owners of the farm lands, the police at Zone 9 Umuahia ironically came and arrested about 76 farmers, adding that they were getting protection from the Federal Government. The Bishop said his worry and that of any sane Nigerian is that the activities of these herdsmen directly impinge on both national and international security and wondered who armed the herdsmen with such sophisticated weapons . “The whole thing borders on national security. Security of Nigerians.

The country is becoming volatile. What we are talking about here is national and international security as it’s relates to cattle herdsmen. The question is, who has armed them with sophisticated weapons as AK47.

“Some days ago they raped and killed two people in Awgu in Enugu State and when the people talked; they invited the police from Zone 9, Umuahia to protect them”, he said, adding that ironically when the policemen came they arrested 76 farmers from Awgu Community and let herdsmen go scot free. The Bishop also picked holes with the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai for his discriminatory policies against Christians in his state and beckoned on the Federal Government to call him to order.

He described the law made by the Kaduna State Government banning Christians from preaching or spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the state as obnoxious and sentimental, stressing that the Church is averse to religious bigotry. He further alleged that some churches had been marked for demolition in Kaduna State by the state government.

Chibok girls not missing –Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday declared that no pupil was abducted by Boko Haram from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

Over 200 pupils of the school were reportedly abducted in 2014 by the terror group.

The governor said the report was politically motivated to influence public opinion against the Goodluck Jonathan  administration ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Fayose spoke while declaring open a two-day workshop on “Political Aspirants Capacity Enhancement” organised by Women Arise for Change Initiative. It was organised for  women from Ekiti, Osun and Ondo states.

He  said, “Today, many opposition leaders are underground. I don’t think any of these girls is missing; it is a political strategy. Who is fooling who? If you wanted to use it to remove some people, you have succeeded already.

“I don’t know if there are missing girls but no indication has shown that. It is a political strategy,  because I don’t think any girl is missing. If they are missing, let them find them.”

The governor  also took a swipe at #BringBackOurGirls campaigners, saying some of them are using it to look for appointments.

He lamented that  human rights groups had decided  to keep  quite since  President Muhammadu Buhari came on  board.

Fayose said, “I’m concerned about the activities of human rights groups. Today the government of the day is obeying court order of their choice, while human rights are not respected.

“We must talk about government providing cover for criminals. You are now using that person to harass innocent person. You will never have peace when you hide justice.”

He added, “Police came into town yesterday (Tuesday)  to  arrest political opponents. If you like, demonise me, I will demonise you. I don’t need the police and the SSS (Department of State Services) to walk in my state. It is when you are not popular that you walk with police.

“Any government that rises against me, that government will come down. I’m Peter the rock. By engaging me, you make me more popular and relevant and then court sympathy. I’m one person that is going places. That is why all these challenges are against me.”

The governor urged women seeking elective offices to be loyal to their husbands.

The President of the initiative, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, said the objective of the workshop was to enhance women political participation and their inclusion in decision making process by promoting female political aspirants and appointees. She said it was to encourage a more massive political mobilisation of women.

She lamented that Nigerian women had not fully involved themselves in politics,  despite the constitutional provisions giving  them rights to political participation.

Tinubu made the impossible happen –Fashola

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), says the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, made the impossible happen by ensuring that for the first time in Nigeria’s history, opposition parties successfully merged.

Fashola said this in a video tribute to commemorate Tinubu’s 64th birthday.

The minister, who was present at the colloquium held in Tinubu’s honour in Abuja, on Tuesday, said Nigeria was falling apart under former President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that Tinubu steered Nigeria away from the course of destruction.

Fashola said, “It was dangerous for Nigeria to keep that administration for another term and the evidence of that was before us. The country was falling apart. You must salute the courage, the passion, the foresight of Asiwaju to reach across and say ‘let us forge a partnership to save Nigerians, to save ourselves’.”

The minister added, “On whether or not there could be a merger, everyone said it wasn’t going to happen, it had never happened in the history of Nigeria and as far as that was concerned, it (the merger) was a victory that the impossible had become not only probable but possible and that was due to Asiwaju’s self conviction and, as I said, his ability to mobilise people and materials behind an idea.”

Egypt plane hijacker request a letter be given to his ex-wife

There are conflicting reports over how many passengers are still on board. Greek state TV ERT has reported that all remaining passengers have been released from the hijacked Egypt Airplane in Cyprus.

Media reports say the hijacker, Ibrahim Samaha, has demanded that a letter be handed over to his ex-wife, a resident on the island. She is currently being taken to the airport where the plane landed. The woman has been named as Marina Paraschou.

Egyptian state television identified Samaha as a lone hijacker. He forced and EygptAir flight on its way to Cairo from Alexandria to land in Cyprus. He is believed to be strapped with explosives.

Ian Petchenik, a spokesman for FlightRadar24, said: “It looks like a completely controlled flight aside from the fact it was hijacked.”
The aircraft apparently travelled without the pilots signalling for help via their transponder.

“The information we have so far is that it is one hijacker. The person has yet to make any demands,” foreign ministry permanent secretary Alexandros Zenon told French iTele television.

It had appeared that this crisis was coming to an end, according to a BBC news correspondent. However, a news conference that took place earlier, suggests that it is far from resolved.

20 killed, 150 injured in flyover collapse in eastern India

At least 20 people have been killed and more than 150 others injured in a under-construction flyover collapse in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata Thursday.

“The flyover, which has been under construction in the middle of a crowded commercial area in central Kolkata for the past six years, came crashing down around 12.30 p.m. (local time). So far, 20 bodies have been pulled out of the debris,” a police official said, on condition of anonymity.

All those injured and rescued alive from the debris by the rescuers have been admitted to a local hospital where the condition of some are said to be serious, he said, adding the death toll may go higher in the evening.

Apart from the disaster management personnel, police, firefighters and local residents, some five columns of the Indian Army has been called out to pitch in for what is turning out to be a colossal rescue effort. Sniffer dogs have also been pressed into service.

Local TV channels showed footage of rescuers trying with their bare hands to pull out those still trapped under chunks of concrete and metal, and blood stained bodies being retrieved from under the debris as well as cars buried under the collapsed bridge being pulled out by cranes.

Chief Minister of the eastern Indian state of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, cancelled her campaign for the upcoming assembly polls and rushed to the scene to survey the damage. She announced compensation for the families of those killed and the injured.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in the United States, has also expressed his shock over the tragic incident.

“Shocked & saddened by collapse of under construction flyover inKolkata. Took stock of the situation & rescue operations,” Modi tweeted. “My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives in Kolkata. May the injured recover at the earliest,” he added.

Flyover collapses are not uncommon in India mainly due to the use of sub-standard materials and lack of adherence to safety standards.

SUBEB Uncovers Over 200 Fake Teachers in C’ River

The Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board has uncovered over 200 fake teachers in nine local government areas of the state.

Following the ongoing personal audit of teachers in the state by SUBEB, it was discovered that the bulk of the exposed teachers were in the nine LGAs out of the 18 council areas where the audit of teachers had been completed.

Those found culpable had fake certificates while others were ghost teachers, dead teachers whose salaries were still being drawn on monthly basis, among others.

The discovery had pitched the state wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers against SUBEB on the claims that the audit process was fraught with victimisation.

The leadership of NUT had protested to the state House of Assembly calling for an immediate suspension of the ongoing audit of teachers.

However, in a bid to settle the rift, the House of Assembly waded into the matter by initially suspending the audit exercise, but after a meeting with the feuding parties, SUBEB was directed to continue with the personnel audit of teachers in the state primary school sector.

Our correspondent learnt on Thursday that SUBEB was also mandated to sack those found to be parading fake certificates.

Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Mr. Friday Okpechi, had while resolving the issue between SUBEB and NUT, said the audit exercise would continue in the remaining nine LGAs that had yet to be screened.

While calling on SUBEB to announce new dates and time for the continuation of the personnel audit exercise in the remaining LGAs, Okpechi cautioned that the teachers be given fair hearing.

He further directed the SUBEB Chairman, Dr. Stephen Odey, to return seized original certificates to their rightful owners.

“Sufficient and timely radio and television announcements should be made to inform teachers of the requirements necessary for the smooth conduct of the exercise. The panel should not request for school fees receipt as prerequisite for screening,” he added.

The Okpechi-led committee also told the SUBEB chairman to immediately constitute a fresh screening panel to include NUT, ALGON and the Ministry of Education.

Buhari arrives Washington DC for the 4th Nuclear Security Summit

President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria last night and has now arrived in Washington, DC to join President Barack Obama and about 60 other world leaders and heads of international organisations at the 4th Nuclear Security Summit.

The President’s delegation includes Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd.) and the Director-General of Nigeria’s Nuclear Regulatory Agency and Prof Lawrence Anikwe Dim.

Buhari Washington DC Summit 4

President Buhari will depart Washington DC for Abuja on Sunday.

At plenary sessions of the summit which is dedicated to reinforcing international commitment to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, President Buhari has outlined that he will insist that while Nigeria will continue to sustain that commitment, world powers must respect the right of other countries to the peaceful use of nuclear energy for development purposes.

The President plans to reaffirm Nigeria’s stance that international efforts to ensure greater security of nuclear materials should maintain a balance between nuclear non-proliferation obligations and the indisputable right of Nigeria and other countries to harness nuclear energy and technology for socio-economic development.

Nigeria’s aspiration to begin the generation of electricity with nuclear energy.

While the intention is well and good, there needs to be a national discussion on the direction to take – clean renewable energy options should also be explored before the investments in nuclear energy is made.

NFF may drag CAF to Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS)

THE Nigeria Foot-ball Federation officials are yet to come to terms with Nigeria’s ouster from the Gabon Nations Cup but are considering options of dragging African Football Confederation to the Court of Arbitration in Sports.

The sudden withdrawal of Chad made it impossible for Nigeria to nurse any hope of picking a ticket as one of the best losers. ‘’It is rather unfortunate that Chad, one of the teams in the qualification group, suddenly pulled out of the race, leaving only three teams left in the group, and only the winner of the the group guaranteed qualification.

This appeared to have taken away our worst–case scenario of qualification. However, our legal unit is looking at the propriety of changing the rules midstream’’, Demola Olajire, who is the Assistant Director of Communications of the NFF, said.

Police seal Kogi Assembly complex

Kogi State House of Assembly complex was yesterday sealed off by security agents on the orders of the National Assembly following the protracted leadership crisis rocking the House.

This came as Governor Yahaya Bello of the state, denied any crisis in the Assembly, saying the House had been carrying out its normal legislative activities without disruption or external interferences.

But contrary to the governor’s claim, the main entrance to the assembly complex was barricaded, by heavily armed policemen, preventing factional members billed to conduct ministerial budget screening from accessing the complex.

The road leading to the complex was also barricaded by armed policemen, who subjected staff of the assembly to scrutiny and only allowed them in upon confirmation of their employment status through their Identity Cards.

Speaking on the seal-off, a member from the embattled Speaker’s camp, Aliyu Akuh, said since the crisis remained unresolved and the other faction ignored the directive to return to status quo ante by the House of Representatives, there was no other option than to seal off the complex.

However, the factional Speaker, Umar Imam, who spoke to newsmen in Lokoja said, the action of the security operatives did not amount to seal-off, insisting that the Assembly was still performing its function. According to him: “At our last sitting on Thursday March 24, we adjourned till  April 12 to give room for budget defence. So we were not even sitting because we are on recess. “We are on oversight function to speak with MDAs for their budget defence. So, as far as we are concerned, the Assembly has not been sealed because it is still functional, workers are working in the complex. “By the time we finish with our recess and budget defence, we shall continue with other Assembly businesses.”

However, the Committee on Appropriation, who were to conduct their budget screening at the Assembly complex, relocated to the Government House to carry out its function, as the Committee met with the Ministry of Information, and two other committees yesterday.

Speaking with State House Correspondents  in Abuja, Governor Bello appealed to the people of the state to join him in rebuilding the state, insisting that the time of crisis was over. He said: “My House is sitting and we have absolute peace in Kogi State. I am not aware of that the National Assembly is supposed to have taken over.

The  state is absolutely in peace and the legislative activities are ongoing. “I am the executive and the executive is functioning and we are doing the best we can. The legislature is doing its own business and is on it. Members should remain calm. Kogi State has bled for long. This is not the time for crisis. “This is the time to work and I am here to work. I am not here to have any political fuss with anybody, whoever is ready should join me and let’s fix Kogi State”.

On the federal government bailout funds to states, the governor said : “We applied for it and its under processing so right now I have not gotten any bail-out yet. Well, I think to the best of my knowledge, the last administration either did not go on with the process properly, which we are doing now to correct whatever was not done properly so that we can access it for our people.”

Boko Haram’s days numbered —Chief of Air Staff

THE Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sodique Abubakar, yesterday, said that the days of the Boko Haram sect were numbered, stressing the commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to stop the activities of terrorists in the country.

The Air Force boss, who expressed optimism that the provisions made for the Nigerian Air Force in the 2016 budget would improve its operations, said that the war against terror was at its “tail end.”

Abubakar stated this shortly after commissioning a medical laboratory at the NAF 81 Maritime Group in Benin City, Edo State. He said: “We are at the tail end of the war against Boko Haram. One of their enclaves, Alagarnu, has just been taken over. I was in the North-East a few days ago and I believe that we are at the tail end of this operation.”

Abubakar explained that the new projects, which include medical facilities,  were to add value to the already existing equipment, adding that the focus of the Air Force was to promote a professional service and the welfare of its personnel, in addition to training.

“The last time we came, we didn’t have a laboratory. But today, we have a well equipped laboratory. Professionalism  is not just about training and equipping the soldier but also taking care of the welfare of the soldier. “A professional soldier can also fall sick. That is why we need to provide a laboratory, which we have done.”

Obasanjo calls for good governance in Africa

Former  President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has appealed to African leaders to focus on good governance, equity and other variables that would bring about growth on the continent.

Obasanjo made this known at the recently concluded Commonwealth Day Service and The Commonwealth Africa Summit event in commemoration of the Commonwealth Week in London, organised by the Commonwealth Africa Initiative and GLEEHD Foundation.

The former President said: “If Globalisation means I open my door and you take things out but you close your own door to me, then to hell with globalisation.” “Africa is not an unmitigated failure, there are good things in Africa. Africa remains the cradle of humanity.

We need to put our pad on our head as Africans and stand by our load and be ready to carry, then they will help us”, he said. He added that “our greatest asset is our people. Let us train and educate our people.

People will say, too many people, the truth is that the so called youth budge can be an asset and a responsibility. Let us educate them and give them skills”. “60% of arable land in the world is in Africa, what are we doing with it. Let us stop regarding agriculture as a development project; it’s a business, Agriculture business”, he said. Obasanjo, who is also the Chairman of Commonwealth African Initiative said that Leadership can do and undo.

“What I have seen in Africa is that I think on incremental basis, our leadership qualities are improving, but our leaders need to be educated. They need to understand the world and know that by themselves alone we can’t go farther”.

Mystery object slams into Jupiter

In case you missed it, the largest planet in our solar system was struck by a foreign object.

Videos emerged this week of an object apparently hitting Jupiter.
The footage shows a quick flash on the right side of the planet as an object seemingly makes impact.
Amateur astronomer Gerrit Kernbauer, from Modling, Austria, said he documented the incident on March 17 while observing the planet with a telescope. He posted the video on YouTube, drawing over a million views.

At first, Kernbauer wasn’t sure what he saw. “The seeing was not the best, so I hesitated to process the videos,” he wrote in the video’s description.

“Nevertheless, 10 days later, I looked through the videos and I found this strange light spot that appeared for less than one second on the edge of the planetary disc.”
This made him think about a similar incident that occurred when fragments of the Shoemaker-Levy 9 comet hammered Jupiter in 1994. That impact was observed by NASA’s Galileo spacecraft, as well as astronomers on Earth.
“Thinking back to Shoemaker-Levy 9, my only explanation for this is an asteroid or comet that enters Jupiter’s high atmosphere and burned up [or] exploded very fast,” Kernbauer wrote.
A second video surfaced, taken by amateur astronomer John Mckeon in Dublin, Ireland, who also captured video of an object appearing to slam into Jupiter, sparking more excitement for stargazers.

Phil Plait, who is an astronomer and runs the blog Bad Astronomy for Slate.com, analyzed the videos and theorized the mystery object is possibly a small asteroid or a small comet.
“Jupiter sits on the edge of the asteroid belt and it is so big that its gravity can affect other objects over time and pull things towards it,” he said.
Although the object might be small, Plait said he believes the impact was pretty powerful. “An object will hit Jupiter with roughly five times the velocity it hits Earth,” he said, meaning even a small rock can pack a powerful punch. However, the impact probably didn’t leave any visible damage to Jupiter’s cloud top, he said.
It’s also important to note that Jupiter is struck often by foreign objects. In 2009, Hubble captured aftermath of an object hitting the planet.
March’s impact comes a few months shy of NASA’s spacecraft Juno entering Jupiter’s orbit. Juno will be the first probe to see below the planet’s dense clouds.

I’m a British citizen, ask Buhari to release me; Nnamdi Kanu tells UK

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, has urged the British Government to intervene in his case by asking President Muhammadu Buhari to release him from prison.

Kanu who is facing treason charge alongside two other pro-Biafra agitators, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, approached the British government through his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

Kanu, in a letter dated March 24 and addressed to the British High Commissioner in Abuja, described himself as a victim of travesty of justice and gross human rights violation. He insisted that the President Buhari-led administration has violently abused his fundamental human rights through his prolonged detention in prison custody.

Even though Kanu said he was ready to answer to the charge against him, he however expressed doubt in the ability of the Nigerian government to accord him fair trial, saying he has so far been subjected to immense persecution.

Stressing that he is a British citizen, Kanu told the UK government that he was wrongly arrested and put in detention. “It is repeating the obvious to state that our client is a full British citizen, by virtue of which position he is entitled to all Rights, Privileges and Protection, guaranteed under the British Laws and conventions.

“We are therefore constrained in the circumstance, to formally notify the British Government via this medium, of our well informed reservations, and apprehension, that our client is undergoing persecution in the charge above referred, and deliberate design by the persecutors to frustrate every effort of the Defense team aimed at giving our client a fair trial”.

Kanu, through his lawyer, contended that his detention from October 14, 2015 till January 20, 2016, without any lawful order of court, was not only unlawful, but was in flagrant disobedience of orders of courts of competent jurisdiction which he said directed his unconditional release and discharge.

“It is the position of our Law, that dual citizenship is a constitutional right of the citizens of Nigeria, clearly provided for under section 28 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended in 2011. Dual citizenship is not a crime under our Law.

“Our reservations on the President’s comment was underpinned by the findings made in the ruling delivered on  February 29, 2016, by Hon. Justice John Tsoho, wherein our client and the two other defendants were denied bail.

“Recalled that on December   29, 2015, during the Presidential Media Chat, the President told the whole world that Nnamdi Kanu cannot be granted bail, alleging that he came into the country without a valid travelling passport.

“This pronouncement was roundly condemned by both local and international commentators. His pronouncement was viewed as a clear usurpation of the functions and powers of the judiciary. “Though very regrettable and extremely unfortunate, Nnamdi Kanu was refused bail on January 29, 2016.

In refusing him and other defendants bail, the court also cited the facts of his possession of dual passports as a flight risk, and as such held that he cannot be granted bail.” Kanu maintained that Justice Tsoho denied him bail “in line with the pronouncement of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in his media chat telecasted live on December 29, 2015.”

Lovely women from Adamawa State use scrap wastes to make beautiful things that are totally marketable

In Adamawa State, a simple idea that turns some of the town’s waste into creative fashionable pieces is not only saving the environment, it is helping the local women make a living.

Every Wednesday, some local women gather under the canopy to knit. It has been going on now for the past three years. What is unique about this group isn’t the knitting, it is the material knitted. Colourful pieces of discarded polythene bags have been picked from all over Adamawa’s capital, Yola and brought together by the local women to be used as the raw material from which bags, mats, purses and so much more are created. The look of old Lagos State so so many years ago

This picture is devine and looks peaceful, don’t you agree? This was long before so much spoilage crept into the state. Truly the land of excellence, everything looks so orderly and clean.

The slain army Colonel has been buried according to Islamic rites

Slain Colonel Samaila Inusa laid to rest according to Islamic rites at Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna on Wednesday 30th March 2016. The colonel was kidnapped on Sunday March 20 in Kaduna, and was found dead at about 6.00pm on Tuesday, the Army said.

image

A statement from the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said Colonel Inusa’s body was found in Kaduna, and he was suspected to have been killed on the day he was kidnapped.

“ Preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors. This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State,” Usman said.

image

Colonel Usman warned that whoever was behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law.

image

The late Colonel was kidnapped while in his Mercedes-Benz car with his wife and son by some gunmen around Kamazo, along Kaduna Refinery Road in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State. They dropped off his wife and kid and left with him, heading towards Abuja.
