Austria To Ban Wearing Of Public Face Veils

By Oladapo Okeowo with agency reports

The first step in the ban, in Austria, of wearing full-face veils in public areas was taken on Tuesday as the cabinet presented amendments to the country’s integration laws.

This was disclosed by Sebastian Kurz, the minister of foreign and integration, to reporters after a cabinet meeting. He said the ban is expected to foster the integration of migrants.

So also, Salafist Muslim groups will no longer be allowed to hand out copies of the Koran in public. This is so as to curb rising cases of extremist views.

In addition, asylum seekers who have a high chance of being recognised as refugees will have to take part in community service and learn the German language.
