Court Grants Ex- NNPC GMD, Andrew Yakubu, Bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted former Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Andrew Yakubu, bail.

His bail conditions are the payment of N300m and the presentation of two sureties with landed property in Abuja, one of whom must be a resident of the Federal Capital Territory.

While ruling on the bail application filed by the defendant, Justice Ahmed Mohammed ordered the defendant to submit his international passport to the court registrar pending the determination of the case.

Mohammed also directed the sureties to swear to an affidavit of means adding that the defendant must remain in prison custody until his bail conditions are fulfilled.

The court has adjourned the case to May 9 for the commencement of the trial.

Yakubu was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) after he admitted owning $9.8 million and GBP74,000 found in a house that belongs to him in Kaduna State.
