Supreme Court Grants PDP Faction Accelerated Hearing

The Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has disclosed that it has been granted accelerated hearing by the Supreme Court over the chairmanship crisis rocking the party.

In a statement released via the party’s Tweeter handle, it claimed that the Supreme Court slated May 4, 2017 for hearing of the Senator Sheriff ‘s Motion to strike its Appeal.

The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to some conflicting media reports regarding the Outcome of the Supreme Court position yesterday being Thursday, March 23, 2017 in respect of the Motion for ‘Accelerated Hearing and Abridgment of Time’ brought before it by the PDP National Caretaker Committee (NCC) led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, CON.

“Consequently, we write to clarify any earlier misrepresentation of facts in the Matter. For emphasis, the Supreme Court of Nigeria yesterday GRANTED the Application for Accelerated Hearing and Abridgment of Time filled by Senator Makarfi’s led NCC against the February 17, 2017 Court of Appeal Judgement in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff’s group were ordered to file their respondents’ brief of argument within 21 days beginning from yesterday.

“That means the respondents’ briefs must be filed latest April 12,2017.
